| Washington Park, Cincinnati, Oh |
Moving
from Paris to Cincinnati is a change of life, as if you were moving
from New City to a provincial town...A couple of years later,
Cincinnati feels home. Downtown is in revival with the newly
remodeled Washington Park where downtown children are playing in the
water fountain with visitors. The illuminated gazebo where jazz
concerts are held in the summertime reminds me of the romantic
Luxembourg Park in Paris. Beside, the majestic Music Hall is
patiently waiting for a new French conductor, Louis Langrée to come.
Restaurants on vine and Maine streets have been given a new, hip
life in the weekend.
If you take Elm street, North you will end up at the
Findlay Market over-the-Rhine. The old market, originally built by
the German settlers, has become such an attractive place in the city.
Farmers are selling produce directly from the farm and people come
to socialize at the wine merchant store for a wine tasting. Driving
North of the city, Clifton looks like the students quarter, Le
quartier Latin, with the busy University of Cincinnati and the
walkable area where the movie theater, the Esquire, shows
international films. Further west, in Northside, where students and
yuppies live, there are vintage stores , taverns and classy
restaurants. The Comet on Saturday evening is always packed with
fans of the famous Bluegrass Band, All-Stars. People eat burritos
while drinking a beer from the large selection at the bar.
